Afternoon Tea Buffet for Cobblestone Court






 An Appreciation Tea Party for the Austin Residents of Cobblestone Court, to thank them for their patience during their beautiful renovations.

 Cobblestone Court in Austin is a lovely income-based apartment community designed for seniors 62+ to make their daily life easy and enjoyable. Their one-level apartments provide a peaceful and beautiful setting for active and independent seniors, with a central community building. 

The complex recently underwent an extensive renovation and update. The residents had to put up with quite a bit of construction dust and inconvenience. The complex management wanted to throw a nice celebration to commemorate the completion of the restoration, and thank the residents for their patience.

Given the heavily senior female demographic, the manager thought that an Afternoon Tea Party would be perfect. The budget didn't allow for a full formal Afternoon Tea, but fortunately High SocieTEA offers a fun, cost-effective solution! 

An Austin Afternoon Tea Buffet 

Lianna, the Regional Director, was so lovely to work with. We worked together to create the perfect menu that fit their budget and vision. 

I tweaked the menu to stay within their budget, with a guest count of 80.  We decided to forego the finger sandwiches altogether as those are quite labor-intensive. The buffet-style serving for the tea menu makes it easier to serve cost-effective bulk items like pasta and fruit salad, which do not work well on the tiered servers.

The buffet is also easy to set up by myself and doesn't require all the individual tiers, teapots, etc. 

Another cute, cost-conscious option for the buffet is to use disposable teacups instead of china cups and saucers. I source these from Amazon, and there are many options. They have beautiful floral patterns, are made of heavy quality paper, and have little handles that fold out. Here is a link to an example: Amazon Disposable Teacups

The guests take a teacup, a tea bag in their choice of flavor, and hot water from a large dispenser, and the tea steeps directly in the cups. Easy, cute, and no hand-washing delicate china!

My Story


My name is Christy Seguin, and I am the owner, baker, sandwich maker, and dishwasher of High SocieTEA. 

I spent over a decade as a noted Austin cake artist and owner of Cakes ROCK!!!, featured in Food Network's Halloween Wars, Netflix Sugar Rush, The Cooking Channel, and Cake Central International Magazine. Baking is my passion and most of my recipes are my own creations. 

For a short time, I owned an event venue called Rose Haven, and we had the perfect small room and adjoining rose garden for elegant teas. A friend of mine who is a tea expert approached me about turning it into a tea room. We created a partnership and soon our tea room was very popular. We were even featured as one of Austin's Top Tea Rooms by Culture Map Austin!

I closed Rose Haven but my newfound love of tea parties lingered, as well as my beautiful collection of china and accessories I had accumulated. I couldn't bear to part with my beauties and was considering what to do with them.

Out of the blue, a client whose caterer had canceled on them only 48 hours before their tea party, called me and asked if I could recreate my tea parties at their home. In two days! I agreed, and it was a smashing success! Read the whole story HERE.
